Get to know the story of Natalia – MT intern

August 19, 2024

Recruitment for the autumn edition of Management Trainee – the leadership program, is still ongoing! The program starts in November of this year. To get to know the program and its assumptions better, we asked Natalia – MT 2023 intern, about her experiences related to Management Trainee. This is the second article in this series, we encourage you to read it!

Hi Natalia. When did you join Biedronka and in what area do you currently work?

I joined Biedronka in 2023, along with nine equally ambitious participants of the Management Trainee program. I am currently developing in the HR area, and my first rotation was in the Training and Development Department.

How do you remember the recruitment process?

I remember the recruitment process very positively! I was very impressed with how quickly the next stages followed each other and I could count on regular feedback throughout.

Which stage of recruitment was the most difficult for you and why?

The most demanding stage for me was the meeting with the Member of the Management Board. It was the last conversation, after which the decision to join the management program was to be made. Although it was one of the shorter meetings, it was no less demanding than the previous stages. The questions I received were very specific, based on my previous professional experience and knowledge of the market, thanks to which I was able to share my observations on a given topic.

Why FMCG? What do you like most about this industry?

The retail industry attracted me for many reasons. First of all, it is a sector that is developing dynamically and is inextricably linked to people's everyday lives. Thanks to the fact that Biedronka is a leader on the Polish market, I have the opportunity to work with professionals and together set trends on the market. I also chose retail because of the fast pace of work. The FMCG industry is associated with this, so every day brings new challenges and opportunities. Such dynamics makes work exciting and devoid of monotony.

How do you remember working in the store – tell us about where you worked, how do you remember the team, which tasks were the most difficult, how do you look back on it?

One of the elements of the program is to learn about operations, i.e. how stores and the distribution center operate. I had the opportunity to spend this time in Gdańsk and experience the specifics of working in seasonal stores. The team I worked with was well-coordinated and helpful, and from the very beginning I felt support from the Store Manager, with whom I trained for several weeks. The most difficult task in the role of Store Manager seems to me to be the proper organization of time and work in order to complete all the tasks during one shift. I can safely say that, in retrospect, working in the store and in the distribution center was a very valuable experience for me. It allowed me to understand why some processes run in a certain way, which is valuable knowledge for me, in the context of future tasks that I will carry out in the HR area.

Would you consider applying to Management Trainee again?

If I were to go back in time to the moment of making the decision to join the program, I would definitely make the same decision. The program provides development opportunities that we will not experience during regular internships or placements. I encourage everyone to try their hand at it - maybe you are the one who is destined for a managerial career at Biedronka!

You too can try your hand and take part in the recruitment process! Find out more at: www.pracawbiedronce.pl/management-trainee/.
