The Piórko competition has been organized by Biedronka since 2015. Every year, thousands of aspiring writers submit their own stories. Then, after selecting the best one, a call for illustrations for it is announced. Since its inception, the jury has read and viewed over 25 thousand submitted works. The total pool of prizes has reached PLN 1.4 million. Over 340 thousand copies of books have been sold in the six editions of the competition. Over 5 thousand aspiring writers and over 4.5 thousand illustrators have applied for this year's, 7th edition of the competition.
This year's 7th edition of the competition saw the entry of over 5,000 aspiring writers and over 4,500 illustrators. The competition was huge, but it was the idea of Justyna Woźniak and Aleksandra Badura that the jury liked the most. Thus, the dreams of both authors came true. Each of the competition winners received the Biedronka Award in the amount of PLN 100,000. The book they jointly authored has been available on the shelves of all Biedronka chain stores since September 30. The premiere of the book is accompanied for the first time in history by the Week of Loud Reading - for 7 days, during shopping, you will be able to hear fragments of the awarded book interpreted by well-known and popular voices: Beata Tadla and Wiktor Zborowski.

Everyone has their own dreams and the trick is to consistently pursue them. The authors of the winning text and illustrations caught up with their dreams today in the title "Dream Factory". But we in the Biedronka network also have something to be proud of. For the first time in history, together with the earlier September premiere of the winning book, the Week of Reading Loud in Biedronka is also starting. This is our next step in consistently promoting reading among and for the youngest.
