IT is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. More modern solutions are introduced every day, which also offer more and more professional opportunities. If you don't have experience in IT, it doesn't matter. Everyone started somewhere and it's definitely worth knowing how to do it! At Biedronka, we have a way to do it.
IT job, no experience required
Aspiring IT specialists start building their careers at the beginning of their studies. How do they do it? When we can't list many employers (or even none) on our CV, it's not a reason to worry. Soft skills, completed training, obtained certificates or participation in bootcamps also count. Employers pay attention to activities during studies, involvement in student organizations or participation in competitions. Motivation for self-development, which can be seen in the CV, is a huge plus during recruitment. There are many educational platforms on the Internet that will allow you to gain at least basic knowledge, e.g. Coursera or Plural Sight. YouTube itself is full of tutorials - where there's a will, there's a way!
First steps at work
Of course, nothing can replace the experience that you can gain by working in a company, in the IT department. Working "on a live organism" allows you to learn from the best, builds self-esteem as an employee, and, equally importantly, gives you the opportunity to gain unique knowledge, characteristic of a given industry. It is worth building your portfolio by taking part in various projects. They can be of different lengths, but ultimately each of them brings something new to our experience. Working in organizations, especially those that are leaders in a given industry, allows you to develop soft skills. The IT department is a business partner for the entire organization and establishing and maintaining relationships or teamwork are just as important as technical knowledge. From there, it is only a step to networking, thanks to which many people have already found a great job.
Internship and traineeship offers
It is no surprise to anyone that the first professional experiences do not always meet the expectations of young people. They take part in internships or apprenticeships that do not offer real opportunities for development and participation in ambitious projects. Therefore, when looking for an employer, it is worth reading the advertisement carefully and visiting the careers page. It would also be ideal if the company had a page dedicated to IT specialists and experts. It is good to know who you will be working with and what values are professed in the organization.
An internship, especially in IT, should have a clearly defined area of operation – something else is done in the area of infrastructure, architecture or applications. To this should be added a clearly presented rate per hour or per month of work and the duration of the internship. When we know all this, we can safely apply.
An example of an internship is <StartIT> organized by Biedronka for students in their 1st-3rd year of studies. At the beginning, interns have a clearly defined area in which they will develop. People who joined Biedronka in 2024 carry out tasks in the area of SAP and IT infrastructure. Biedronka has about 3,600 stores, 17 warehouses and offices throughout Poland. The scale of operations is huge, and the modern projects carried out have an international reach. At Biedronka, you have the opportunity to continue your career after completing your internship. All people who joined Biedronka in 2023 continue to work in the company.
