Our employees form one of the largest and most cohesive teams in Poland. A good atmosphere, cooperation and support from the direct superior - these are the indicators that were particularly highlighted by our colleagues in the engagement survey. It is thanks to them that we carry out our mission of providing our customers with food and necessary products every day.
Employees worthy of a medal
In 2020, we had many reasons to show gratitude and appreciate the efforts of tens of thousands of our employees. This time has particularly confirmed how much depends on our people. It is they who, in these difficult circumstances, with their great determination and belief in the importance of supporting Poles, have shown that they can make the impossible possible.
The Measurable Side of Appreciation
In addition to words of gratitude, there were also specific monetary rewards. We appreciated our employees by awarding ad hoc bonuses several times for the most difficult weeks of work. Additionally, they received prizes (including an annual bonus of PLN 2,500) and discounts on purchases in Biedronka stores worth up to PLN 1,000. We topped up prepaid cards several times to use in Biedronka and Hebe stores. Despite the uncertain times, we also decided to increase salaries.
To build a sense of community and thank you for your work over the past year, we organized a New Year's party for 75,000 Biedronka employees and their families in January 2021. This is the first time we decided to organize this event in an interactive online format. Between performances by famous artists, our employees sent thousands of live-streamed wishes and photos. They could also take part in text message contests and hear many warm words of thanks and appreciation from the Biedronka Management Board.

We appreciate each other
This year, we used the occasion of Appreciation Day to invite all our employees to celebrate together. We gave them the opportunity to convey kind words of appreciation, support or thanks to their colleagues. Throughout the week, our employees, via a chatbot and prepared kudos, sent each other words of appreciation and thanks. The number of positive messages and the smiles they brought exceeded our expectations.
We value long-term cooperation
For many years, in our organization, we have been thanking people with 10 and 20 years of experience for their work. We offer them financial and material rewards. We know how important it is for all of us to express appreciation, which is why we constantly take actions that strengthen the culture of appreciation at Biedronka. We build a sense of pride and consistently communicate that the work contribution of each of our 75,000 employees is important and each of them plays an important role in creating value for our customers.
