Agnieszka Syczyło was supposed to deal with soil science and heating standards. However, fate had other plans. And fortunately, because otherwise she probably would not have become the winner of the first stage of this year's Piórek, the Biedronka award for children's books. For the winning story, she received a PLN 100,000 prize from the chain. Today, June 23, the second stage of Piórek, for illustrators, begins.

Agnieszka Syczyło from Poznań, instead of checking the standards in sewage systems or managing waste management in municipal companies, wins literary laurels. In the sixth edition of Piórko, in the "Text" category, her short story "About Malwina and the Secret of Grandpa's Cellar" won the hearts of the judges. As a result, the author will receive a PLN 100,000 prize, and her book will go on sale in all Biedronka chain stores in the fall. The task was not easy. For this year's, sixth "Piórko", over 2,000 debuting authors submitted a total of almost 1.8 thousand works.
Seven-year-old reviewer
Ms. Agnieszka also took part in “Piórek” last year. However, she did not achieve success then. As she says, it is probably because she sent the text at the last minute and the technicalities failed. Therefore, she prepared for this year's edition well in advance. She also decided to thoroughly test the story “About Malwina and the Secret of Grandpa's Cellar” on potential recipients, i.e. children. Or, to be more precise: one child, her seven-year-old daughter, Zosia.
