The Biedronka Foundation, established in April this year, is actively involved in the fight against coronavirus and is thus offering its assistance to social welfare homes and other centers that provide care for the elderly. The foundation will provide free personal protective equipment for staff, hygiene products and disinfectants to centers that report shortages. In the meantime, the organization is already planning further initiatives related to helping the elderly.
There are currently over 800 social welfare homes and around 750 centres for the elderly or chronically ill in Poland. The Biedronka Foundation has decided to help those who are particularly vulnerable and those who are unable to take care of themselves. Institutions that need support in the form of personal protective equipment, hygiene products and disinfectants can apply via form. The organization will first deliver items to locations in regions that have the highest infection rates. All of the above items will be distributed while supplies last.

The Biedronka Foundation supports the most vulnerable social groups, especially seniors. Its goals include combating poverty, malnutrition, loneliness and social exclusion of the elderly, as well as developing volunteering for seniors. The first program of the Foundation is the program "For everyday shopping" implemented together with Caritas Polska and diocesan branches. As part of the program, 10,000 seniors have been provided with assistance. The Biedronka Foundation will allocate almost PLN 15 million for this program.
